VA Aid and Attendance Benefit For Assisted Living

The Veterans Administration is offering financial assistance to qualifying veterans to help pay for the costs related to assisted living.  Most of the veterans and families of veterans are not aware of this financial aid for assisted living. Note that The Veterans Administration is not obliged to inform the veterans about this special pension benefit. As a result, more and more families are not able to take advantage of this VA Aid and Attendance benefit for Assisted Living.

As most of us know Assisted Living is an expensive senior care option, which can be unaffordable for a lot of seniors. Thanks to the VA Aid and Attendance program, veterans and surviving spouses of veterans may qualify to receive financial aid, which makes assisted living more affordable. If you want to learn more about how a veteran or surviving spouse of veterans can qualify for this special pension benefit,  click on the link below:

Tips When Visiting Nursing Home Residents

Are you planning to visit an elderly relative in a Nursing Home? Before you visit, it is important that you plan the date and time of your visit and the things you plan to do when you visit your aging loved on in the nursing home.

Most nursing home facilities have flexible visiting hours. However, it is better to call the nursing home facility in advance to make sure that you do not interrupt the nursing home resident's meal time and other planned activities during the day. Usually the staff of nursing homes encourage friends and family to join the seniors during mealtime and whenever there are scheduled activities in the nursing home. If you are planning to eat or join in the nursing home activities, be sure to contact the staff in advance to make arrangements. Additional fees may apply.

Planning the things you want to do with your loved one who lives in a nursing home in advance will be helpful. Think of things that you enjoy doing together before your aging relative was admitted to the nursing home. For ideas of things that you can do together and for more tips on how to make your nursing home visit more enjoyable and memorable, click on the link below:
